Question

My daughter is a ninth grade student in high school. Her teacher is a fist year teacher on a
provisional license. My daughter had only 6 daily grades and no test grades for the whole
3 rd term. How can a teacher not give a student any test grades and she is there every day
and the principal let him do this. Is this legal?

says:

I don't know about legality but it is unsound assessment. Daily work should never be part of
grades. Quality assessment requires enough evidence to make valid and reliable judgments
and one test (summative assessment) for a whole term. There probably should be at least
three and no more than five or six summative assessments for the term.
