Question

Hello,
I am curious about a grading system practice that I continue to fail
to understand. My daughter's grade in her ecology class is based on a
total point logic that results in a percentage grade instead of
averaging grades for a percentage like most teachers do. Now if I
divide her grades to get a percentage, then she has a good score but
when I look at her grades in gradespeed her grade is much lower. Her
teacher says its because he uses total point logic. My question is
how in the world is it logical at all that the percentages end up not
matching. Please help me understand this. I feel that this has
unnaturally lowered her grade in his class.

says:

I do not know what a "total point logic" is. I do not believe that grades should be averaged -
they should be determined by the student's most consistent level of achievement with
emphasis on more recent achievement.
