Question

Our district is having a philosophical disagreement about using .5's on proficiency
scales. Some believe that the .5 muddies the water especially if using the MArzano
language at the .5. Others believe that .5 is essential to show growth. Would like to
hear your feedback on this issue.

I believe that .5's muddy the water. A four level scale should be a four level scale not a 7 level
scale. If you think 7 levels are necessary you should have 7 levels and label and describe each
level clearly and distinctly.
