Question

Hello! Our school district has moved towards standards-based reporting for all K-5th grade students. As a result, the traditional method of calculating honors or principal list no longer fits. Our school is struggling with how to recognize, with awards, the academic achievement of students with the standards-based report cards. We have found ways to recognize behavior and learning characteristics, but how do we replace traditional academic achievement awards with the philosophy of standards based reporting, which is learning trends over time?

says:

The end result of sbg is the status of student achievement so in that sense it is no different
than traditional grading except that it is more accurate, consistent and meaningful. If you
want to have "traditional academic achievement awards" you have to redefine the criteria to be
consistent with the data you have from sbg.
