Question

Ken, in Power School you currently cannot input a score grade for a formative assessment and allow the parents to view this. All our score codes are exempt because formative should not count. However, Power School is set up to not allow parents to view exempt items. Is there a quick fix for this?

Here is the answer from an expert at Power School - The parent portal does not show
items that are exempt with no score. That indicates that the assignment doesn't apply to
the student. For example, in Biology, some students will take a practice AP test, and others
will not. Those that don't take it are marked exempt, and with no score, it does not show
for the parent. This also allows the teacher to customize specific assignments for specific
kids without bogging down the parent portal with everyone's assignments when they don't
apply.
However, if the student is marked exempt (i.e. doesn't count) AND they have a score,
then that does show in the parent portal. So any formative assignment that has a score
can not count in the final grade, but still show up in the parent portal.
Hopefully this will help, the difference is between exempt without any score (doesn't
show), and exempt with a score (does show).
