Question

Hi.

I'm currently a grade 10 student, and I am genuinely concerned for my
grades. Overall, I can maintain about a 3.5 GPA, however, there is one
class I have a D in. Math has not always been my strong point and no
matter how much tutoring or studying I go through, my test-taking
abilities are always below-average. With that said, I am here to ask
you about the failing grade I am receiving. It's nearing the end of
the year, and I highly doubt I can raise it any further. Would I have
to repeat this math class because I ended the second semester with a D
even if I maintain at least a 3.0 (even with the D included)?

I am also planning to enter a prestigious program (International
Baccalaureate), and I am afraid that my D will hinder in my way of
being able to participate in the IB program. Please help?

says:

I would like to see you more concerned about the quality of your learning than your grades.
Whether you would have to repeat depends on the policies of your school. I do not see how
the D will hinder your participation in IB except that you may have difficulty with IB math
courses.
