Question

What is your view of giving students grades for homework? I worry about grade inflation and not knowing if they are truely ready for an assessment for a grade.

says:

Homework should never be included in grades if it's purpose is preparation or practice.
Homework may be included in grades if it is extension or integration as long as teachers
monitor two things very carefully - 1. that it is the students' own work, and 2. that ALL
students have the resources and the situation to be able to do the work outside the
classroom.
