Question

My high school is currently using the standard 8-point (92.5-100= A) scale. I am writing a paper proposing a 10-point scale instead. What is your opinion on a 10-point grade scale being the standard for high schools across the country?

You are asking the wrong question. Whether you use an 8 or a 10 point scale is not
important. No scale that links percentages to letter grades should be used in standards-
based systems. You should write a paper proposing a number of levels (2 to 7) with clear
descriptions of the levels. Then on each points-based assessment there needs to be cut
scores for each level which will vary according to the difficulty of the concepts or skills and
the difficulty of the assessment.
